TEE-BALL 4-6 (hat, shirt, socks, belt)

Introduction to the game and being on a team in a fun, low-key environment is stressed. All players are on the field for defense during each inning.  No outs are recorded, keeping players on base. All players bat every inning.  One base at a time runners/batters and no score is kept.  Player's aged 4 MUST play in the T-Ball level.  The maximum eligible age for T-Ball is 6.

As of January 1, 2018, all Tee Ball bats in the Little League Baseball® Tee Ball program must feature the USA Baseball mark and accompanying text. Tee Ball bats that were produced and/or purchased prior to January 1, 2018 can be certified using an Approved Tee Ball Sticker via the USA Baseball Tee Ball Sticker Program and must be used with approved Tee Ball baseballs for Little League play. Coach pitch 7-8 (hat, shirt, socks, belts)
Any candidate with amateur status who has played one (1) Spring season in T-ball, one (1) Spring season of Coach/Player Pitch and will turn age 7 by September 1st may request to play in the Minor - Player Pitch division. All league age 8 players must register in the Minors - Player Pitch division and attend the skill assessments (Try-Outs).  Bat rules apply the same as the image above just without the Tee-ball Logo. The bat has to have USA logo on the bat.

 

Minors- Player Pitch 9-10 (hat, shirt, socks, belts)
Any candidate with amateur status who has played one (1) Spring season in T-ball, one (1) Spring season of Coach/Player Pitch and will turn age 7 by September 1st may request to play in the Minor - Player Pitch division. Majors (League Age 11-12) (hat, belt, socks, shirt)
Majors is the premier level in Little League baseball with the opportunity to travel to Williamsport, PA to play in the Little League World Series for the Regional championship team.  Play is very competitive, and it's recommended that players have 2 years' experience before playing in Majors.  Pitching speeds of 50 to 60 mph, and the quickness of play in the infield, requires a great amount of attention.


Juniors (League Age13-14) (hat, belt, socks, shirt)
Juniors is a program for 13- and 14-year old's and is divided into teams.  Juniors introduces "real baseball" leadoffs, pick offs and players play on either an 80' or 90' diamond.  The team that is selected via an evaluation held in the pre-season and will travel to play other teams within District.  

 




 

                                                                                              



COACHES

We are registering for coaches for all divisions. 

If you would like to volunteer as a coach or if you know someone, please have them contact a board member for more information.
Somerset Little League needs the help of volunteers to make the season run smoothly. This is why we require 2 hours per season per family of volunteer time or a donation to the league. If you chose not to volunteer there will be a $50 fee per child added to your registration. 
All coaches, asst. coaches, and team parents will have to be certified with a cleared background check before practice begins. we will also be issuing badges to all certified/cleared volunteers. You will be required to wear these during practices and games. 


UMPIRES

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Tasks:   The umpire will arrive fifteen (15) minutes prior to the schedule game time. The umpire will officiate youth baseball games.  The umpire will talk with each coach before the game and review any ground rules, unusual circumstances or local field hazards. The umpire will make sure all players are in proper uniform and notify the coach if any problems need to be rectified. The umpire will check all equipment and field for safety hazards. The umpire will remain unbiased while umpiring contest and will avoid verbal contact with spectators. The umpire will approach his/her position as a representative of PLL, displaying respect for the facility, participants, parents and co-workers. Keep track of game time. 

Qualifications:   Must be at least 12 years old Experience in umpiring youth league games   Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   Ability to take the initiative to do the work that needs to be done Ability to work independently Self-motivator Knowledge of baseball rules good decision-making skills Ability to deal with public diplomatically   

Physical Demands
: Able to crouch for periods during officiating Work is preformed outdoors in all kinds of weather   

Hours: Seasonal position March- Till end of season) Monday-Friday, and Saturday
